Questions Americans Actually Ask Us

Will our golf bags fit?

Yes — this is the question the minibus exists to answer. A full fourball's travel bags plus suitcases go in one load. Traveling as a pair? The saloon takes two travel bags and luggage comfortably. Tell us your party size and bag count in the enquiry and we'll confirm the right vehicle in the quote.

Is there a border checkpoint between Dublin and Northern Ireland?

No. There's no stop, no passport check, no barrier — you'll cross without noticing, and most passengers can't say where the border was. Bring your passport for the flight, obviously, but the drive north is just a drive.

What currency do we need?

Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so it's pounds sterling — not euros. (Dublin Airport, being in the Republic of Ireland, is euro country, but you'll only be there long enough to find Robert's sign.) You'll pay us in GBP — our published dollar figures are approximate guides, and your card handles the conversion automatically.

How do we pay?

However suits you: card payment link sent with your booking, card machine in the vehicle, cash in pounds, or bank transfer. No deposit to book, and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup.

What if our flight is delayed?

Robert tracks your flight from departure. If you're two hours late, he's simply there two hours later — no fee, no drama, no anxious texting from the baggage claim. It's included because that's what pre-booked means.

How will we find our driver?

Walk into the arrivals hall and look for your name on a sign. You'll also have Robert's direct number before you fly — WhatsApp, iMessage, or Facebook Messenger — so if anything's confusing, you're one message from the man himself.

Do we tip the driver?

Tipping isn't expected in Northern Ireland the way it is at home — nobody's standing there waiting. If Robert's made the trip better and you want to, it's appreciated, never required.

Can you provide child seats?

Yes — tell us ages in the enquiry and the right seats are fitted before pickup.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as your tee times are confirmed. The golf season (April–October) books up, and the good tee times at Royal County Down and Royal Portrush are exactly when everyone else wants transport too. There's no deposit and free cancellation to 48 hours — so booking early costs nothing and guarantees the vehicle.

Can you drive us between courses, or on non-golf days?

Yes — day hire is a core service: course-to-course days, touring days for the group or the non-golfers (Giant's Causeway, Belfast, the Mournes), and dedicated-driver arrangements for the whole trip. See Golf Day Hire & Touring.

How long is the drive, really?

Dublin Airport → Newcastle: about 1 hour 45 minutes. Belfast International: about an hour. Belfast City: about 50 minutes. Newcastle → Royal Portrush: about 2 hours 15 minutes. Irish roads reward not being the one driving them.
